‘Early this year the government got a publicity and praise for introducing the NHS and Social Care Coronavirus Life Assurance Scheme 2020 so that the families of NHS workers killed by covid-19 would promptly receive financial support. Several months on, and very sadly, many deaths later, how many £60,000 or other payments have been made under this scheme?’
Your request was received on 22 November 2020 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

As of the 16 December, 249 claims have been assessed and confirmed eligible, of which 135 have been paid and 114 have been accepted for payment pending proof of probate from the claimant.
